New Patek Philippe Watches and Wonders 2022: Expectations and Realities
beyond expectation One of my favorite versions of Watches & Wonders is Patek's Almanac Travel Time Reference. 5326G because it's full of paradoxes.
For starters, I really wish Patek Philippe would go with the strap material, as juxtaposing high complexity with unorthodox straps has always been a hallmark of the brand (no further example than the Aquanaut with rubber straps) , and I'm not disappointed. As someone who styled a mix of T-shirts and tweed jackets, the contrast between the annual calendar and the nubuck-finished shoulder straps was a meeting point of sophistication and casualness.

This watch is the watchmaker's first annual calendar watch with a travel time display system, and this technical masterpiece is an instant hit. Although the 5326 has the highest technical prowess, its appeal lies in features like the strap and Calatrava-style case that make this watch wearable. Watches are meant to be worn, and this piece is a testament to that sentiment.
go green (again) In 2021, the most coveted dial color is green. Every brand is doing this. However, Patek Philippe chose to do it again in 2022, but in a brighter shade than the brand's coveted khaki. But I can only interpret it as proof why the green dial is here to stay, the release of the world time reference. 7130R and perpetual calendar chronograph. The 5270P is a prime example of how green can stand out, especially as a backdrop for a complication (or two).
As someone who is very prejudiced against the 7130, this was far beyond my expectations, as this green world timer would elicit global envy.
little surprise To be honest, I never thought that Patek Philippe would continue the trend of green dials, especially in the 20-4 years.
Don't get me wrong: if you're looking for an under-the-radar reference, the new green dial 4910 will make everyday wear easy. However, with the Ref. 7300 a few years ago, I was expecting a dial change on that model, not the Ref. 4910.
In full transparency, if I had a crystal ball, I wouldn't be wearing a watch; I'd be on the beach in the south of France watching my portfolio grow exponentially. But having said that, as a watch collector of almost half my life, I can say that Patek Philippe did meet my expectations and (mostly) my own predictions.
